A BIG Thank you to everyone who has worked on the Playbarn extension, it looks fantastic and we’re sure will be a great addition to the farm.
Work starts in November 2011, first job to remove the flag path running alongside the Playbarn wall. Spot the hole in the left corner – its going to be a new room, but can you guess what!?!?!
Measuring up, and the steel work starts to go in.
December, and the outline of the first half of the building goes up, although work stops for a few weeks during Christmas
January 2012 – the second half of the building starts to come together, and the roof starts going on! Plus the pointing skills of the Whiteside brothers, Garstang, really starts to come together – looks like these walls have always been part of the farm!
February 2012 – the roof is on, the windows have arrived and are painted ready for installing!
21st and 22nd February 2012 – for the first time during the building we had to close whilst the extension flooring was dug up, ready for under floor heating to be put down in March. It only took us 2 days to dig it all up and concrete it!
The windows and new doorway into the classroom are also going in, plus the new toilet (the old animal feed store-room) has been kitted out with its new walls.
7th and 8th March 2012, the under floor heating and screed goes down. We also had to close these 2 days to give the screed time to set. After that its full steam ahead with the build, and we’re not planning on shutting any more days (fingers crossed!)
March 2012 – the joiners are well on with fitting out the interiors, and the plastering starts.
March 2012 – The interior is painted and the joiners start to build the new counter.
The new counter is in and ready to go! And the door is moved forward to its new position
April 2012 – The new gate was officially opened and used by Levi!
And the new counter set up and ready to go
The new flooring is down, the shoe walls have been moved and we’re in business!
The new toilet (it used to be the animal feed room) is open, with a child friendly sink height, perfect for washing hands :))
