We're Back!

Reopen from Monday 13th July 2020

We’re Back!

We’re very excited (and a little bit nervous) to be reopening our farm gates from Monday the 13th July 2020.

Things will look a little bit different but we’re working hard to make sure our farm is still a great place for you to visit with your family. The last few months have been challenging for everyone, and with the current guidance in place your visit will look a little bit different.

Our main priority is to keep you and our team safe whilst you are with us, so there’s some changes in the way you will be able to visit.

So what’s different?

The main difference will be that the Playbarn will not be reopening until we get the go ahead from Boris. This obviously has a big impact on our business, so if you do decide to visit us please make sure any children know that they won’t be able to go in there (for now). The dairy viewing gallery and calf shed will also be closed for the time being as we continue to protect the dairy farm team, but you will be able to see the calves from outside their building. The Farm Shop, Cafe and Open Farm will all be open.

We need to limit how many people we have on site, so you will need to pre-book your visit before you arrive.

We will be open daily, except Wednesdays when we will be closed for extra extra extra cleaning. Our team have been put into 2 bubbles so we’re limiting the amount of contact we have on site.

You will be able to visit for up to 2 hours, and you can choose from 3 different slots.

9.30am – 11.30am

12pm – 2pm

2.30pm – 4.30pm

You can arrive and leave anytime within your booked slot.

For the first time in our history (outside of December) there will be a gate charge to enter the open farm.

Entry will be £3.50 per person (under 2s free). Your ticket also includes a complimentary hot drink (excluding luxury hot chocolates or flavour shots) OR a Childs’ ice cream with a flake, or single ice cream.

If you would like to book, you can do that here >>>

There will be a limit to the number of bookings per time slot so we can manage numbers. This is brand new for us, so we’ll be learning everyday – please bear with us as we get used to our new normal.

Your booking will be for the date and time selected only, and you will only be allowed onto the farm during this time slot. Bookings are non-refundable, and cannot be exchanged for cash. Entry is for the number of people specified on the ticket only. Please limit your bookings to 6 people per household where possible (excluding under 2s).

At this moment in time online bookings will only be taken via PayPal.

Bookings will be available for 5 days in advance. We’re not sure how the guidance will change or how the system will work, so we want to be able to react to changes quickly without compromising future bookings.

When you arrive

Please arrive via the main car park gate, when you book you will receive a confirmation email – please bring this with you so you can be signed in at the entrance gate.

Each person on the ticket will receive a voucher for their complimentary hot drink (exc. luxury hot chocolates and coffee flavour shots) OR an ice cream (either a childs ice cream with flake or a single scoop ice cream).

Entry to the animal courtyard, cafe and shop will be via the side of the calf shed, and exit will be via the Shop only. Please see our route plan here >> Courtyard one-way system

What to expect

Don’t forget the majority of the farm is outside so please come dressed for the weather.

There will be a one-way system around the inner courtyard and animal paddocks, which is signed.

You will still be able to pet the animals and hold the rabbits and chicks – yay!

The outside play area will be open, but will be limited to one group at a time, please be considerate of others when using these areas.

The shop will be open, serving Tootsies Ice cream (made on site using the Old Holly cows dairy milk).

The cafe will be open with socially distanced tables. We’ll look after you when you arrive and take your order from the table. Please pay using contactless payment where possible.

Takeaway hot drinks will also be available if you’d prefer to sit outside.

We will be running a reduced menu for now. Breakfast will only be served during the 9.30am – 11.30am session, and then lunch will be served in the 2 afternoon slots (last orders at 3.30pm). Drinks and Eileens cakes will be available all day (whoop!).

The toilets will be open.

A polite reminder that picnics are not allowed on site.

Keeping you safe

Please remember that we are a working farm and the most important way of keeping safe is to wash your hands with running water and soap. We have 3 separate hand wash stations in the courtyard area plus the toilet facilities.

Please follow all our guidance regarding one-way systems, hand washing, social distancing of 2m (or 1m+) and observe restricted numbers within enclosed areas.

Please only visit with either your own or 1 other household, or up to 6 people from different households. Please do not arrange to meet any additional groups on site.

You are responsible for your own children / household whilst on site.

Please make sure you wash your hands before you leave and once you return home.

Please do NOT visit our site if you or anyone in your household (or bubble) is displaying any signs of COVID19 – including a temperature, a new continuous cough and a loss of taste or smell, OR if you have been asked to self-isolate, OR if you are waiting for a coronavirus test result.

Your data

In-line with government guidance we are required to keep the lead parties contact details to support track and trace. This data will be held for 21 days then destroyed. It will not be used for any marketing activity or sold onto 3rd parties. It is the lead bookers responsibility to provide accurate information and notify all accompanying guests if they are told to self-isolate.

A full privacy policy can be found here >> Privacy Policy July20

Thank you for your continued support of our family business, we hope you will enjoy our new normal and look forward to seeing you soon.

  • Mandy says:

Hi just wondering if we are able to see the cows being milked at any of the allocated slots as the slots are only up to 4:30 and the cows get milked at 4:30 also are the petting times on all time slots

    • Old Holly Farm says:

Hi, if you book for the 2.30pm timeslot you will be able to watch the cows being milked at 4.30pm (the room will be left open until 6pm so you can stay beyond the timeslot to watch). You won’t be able to watch the milking during any other session. There are no organised talks or petting “times” as this is against the current guidance, you will be able to handle the rabbits and chicks throughout each session and pet the other animals if they are reachable. Hope that helps, Alison
